Description
Vineyard:
The vineyards are located in the town of Benissa, within the Marina Alta wine-growing region of Alicante, at around 150 meters above sea level. The Muscat of Alexandria grapes come from the Benimarraig plot, less than 4 km from the Mediterranean Sea, receiving a strong influence from it. The soils are white limestone.
Viticulture:
Single-varietal wine made from Muscat of Alexandria, known locally as "moscatel romano." Old bush-trained (goblet) vines aged between 40 and 60 years. Low yield of 2,500 kg per hectare. The region's climatic conditions, close to the influence of the Mediterranean Sea, give the Muscat grape its distinctive character and uniqueness.
Winemaking:
Each plot is harvested at its optimal ripeness to achieve the maximum potential of this variety and produce expressive, aromatic, and balanced wines. Hand-harvested in 10-kilo crates, during the first half of September.
Once at the winery, fermentation takes place in a clay amphora (tinaja). Spontaneous fermentation with no added yeasts, temperature controlled between 15 and 18 ºC. Maceration on the skins for 3 months, followed by aging on its own lees for 12 months. No additives or corrections. Certified organic and natural wine. Bottling date: October 12, 2022.
